Day Trip Details
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Barranquilla at the indicated time and travel east by minibus to Santa Marta, one of the oldest cities in America. The journey lasts approximately 2 hours and includes a breakfast served on board consisting of a sandwich and juice.
Upon arrival in Santa Marta, we'll visit the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, where Simón Bolívar spent his last days. The tour includes the gardens and rooms, highlighting his significance in the region. We will then proceed to the Taganga viewpoint for views of Samaria Bay and the surrounding mountains. After descending to Santa Marta Bay, a tour of the old town will be conducted to explore its history and customs.
During the walk through the vibrant streets, we will visit the Cathedral Basilica of Santa Marta, the oldest cathedral in South America, and the Tairona Gold Museum, located in the Casa de la Aduana, to learn about indigenous and colonial heritage.
At midday, we will have lunch at a local restaurant serving traditional Colombian dishes. After lunch, we will explore the Rodadero area, known for its historical significance.
The day concludes with 2 hours of free time at the peaceful beaches of Bello Horizonte, allowing for relaxation in the Caribbean Sea. We will then return to the minibus and head back to your hotel in Barranquilla, arriving approximately 12 hours later.
