Agreste Paraibano Cultural Tour

On this cultural tour of Agreste Paraibano, we will explore Brazil's colonial history and architecture in Areia's countryside.

Tour Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in João Pessoa and journey to Areia, which takes approximately 2.5 hours.

Once in Areia, a city recognised by the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage, we will go on a guided tour through its narrow streets featuring 18th and 19th-century buildings.

Next, we will visit the Pedro Américo House Museum and Casarão José Rufino de Almeida, the first mansion built in Vila Real de Areia, learning about its inhabitants and their trades.

We will proceed to Budega do Vavá for local spirits and artisanal cachaças, along with traditional sweets like Rapadura. The tour continues at Minerva Theatre, a historical venue noted for its abolitionist significance.

There is a 1.5-hour stop for lunch at rural restaurant Vó Maria, renowned for its wood-fired cooking. Afterwards, we will visit the Cachaça and Rapadura Museum, formerly a sugar mill, and view historical machinery.

We'll then witness the production of Cachaça Triunfo, enjoy cane sugar juice and cachaça ice cream, and have the option to purchase local products. The tour concludes at Casa da Farinha Pôr do Sol to experience a northeastern Brazilian sunset.

Finally, we will return to João Pessoa, dropping you off at your hotel after a total of 13 hours.
