Live an unforgettable cultural experience on this day trip to the Potiguara Indigenous Reserve, in Baia da Traição, where we'll learn about history and customs.
Day Trip Details
After picking you up at the designated time from your hotel in João Pessoa, we'll begin our drive towards the Potiguara Indigenous Reserve. The journey lasts 2 hours and 15 minutes, passing through Paraíba's coastline and landscape while discussing the history and traditions of the Potiguara Indigenous people, including the Indigenous Tupi language, dances, ceremonies, and art.
Our first stop will be the ruins of the Church of Saint Michael the Archangel, built by Jesuits in the 17th century. Inside, we'll learn about the enslavement of Indigenous people and their forced conversion to Christianity. Next, we'll proceed to the Gozo River, a waterway protected by over 50 Indigenous families.
We'll visit one of the villages for a meal, then head to Aldeia São Francisco, known as the mother village, where we'll learn about the daily lives of the indigenous people and visit the Oca, where community activities occur.
Our next stop is the Enchanted Lake, where we'll explore its mysticism and visit a local family's house. The day concludes with local interactions and the option to try a snack made of yuca and grated coconut before we return to your hotel after a total of 12 hours.
