Live an unforgettable cultural experience on this day trip to the Potiguara Indigenous Reserve in Baia da Traiçao, where we'll learn about history and customs.
Day Trip Details
After picking you up at your hotel in João Pessoa, we'll begin our drive to the Potiguara Indigenous Reserve. For 2 hours and 15 minutes, we'll travel along Paraíba's coastline while discussing the history and traditions of the Potiguara Indigenous people, including the Indigenous Tupi language, various dances, ceremonies, and art.
We will first stop at the ruins of the Church of Saint Michael the Archangel, built by Jesuits in the 17th century, to uncover the history of the enslavement of Indigenous people. Next, we will proceed to the Gozo River, which is surrounded by tropical vegetation, protected by over 50 Indigenous families.
We will then visit one of the villages where you can grab something to eat, before heading to Aldeia São Francisco, the mother village. Here, we will explore the village and learn about the everyday lives of Indigenous people, and visit the social space, the Oca, for community events.
Our next stop will be the Enchanted Lake, where we will learn about its mysticism and visit a local family's house. The trip will conclude with interactions with locals and the opportunity to try a snack made of yuca and grated coconut. Finally, we will return to your hotel after a total of 12 hours.
