Byblos & Monastery of Saint Maron
We will pick you up from your hotel in Beirut at 8:30 am and set off to the Monastery of Saint Maron in northern Lebanon. The drive takes approximately one and a half hours along the Lebanese coastline.
The monastery, located at an altitude of 1200 meters in the Jbeil region, is also known as the Cave of the Monks and is home to the tomb of Saint Charbel, a site of pilgrimage. We will visit the monastery of St. Joseph, where the tomb of St. Rafqa, a beatified Maronite nun, is located. Further, we’ll explore Kfifan and the monastery of St. Hardini, which houses the tomb of Maronite saint Nimatullah Al-Hardini.
At 3 pm, we will enjoy a Lebanese meal in a local restaurant before heading to Byblos. This city is one of the oldest in the world and features sites such as the Roman amphitheatre, the temple of the obelisks, and various Phoenician tombs. We will learn about the historical significance of this area during our visit.
You will have one hour of free time to explore the streets of Byblos and its craft market. We will return to Beirut around 6 pm.
