Byblos & Monastery of Saint Maron
Having picked you up from your hotel in Beirut at 8:30 am, we'll set off to the Monastery of Saint Maron, located in northern Lebanon. After an hour and a half's drive along the Lebanese coastline, we will reach the rock-carved monastery known as the Cave of the Monks. This site houses the tomb of Saint Charbel and is a pilgrimage destination.
Next, we will visit the monastery of St. Joseph, which is the resting place of St. Rafqa, a Lebanese Maronite nun beatified in 1985. We will also explore Kfifan and the monastery of St. Hardini, home to the tomb of Maronite saint Nimatullah Al-Hardini.
At 3 pm, we will enjoy a Lebanese meal at a local restaurant. Afterward, we will head to Byblos, considered one of the oldest cities in the world. We will explore the Roman amphitheatre, the temple of the obelisks, and the tombs of Phoenician kings while learning about the historical significance of the area.
Finally, you will have one hour of free time to explore the streets of Byblos and its craft market. We will return to Beirut around 6 pm.
