30 years of conflict at the cost of thousands of people. What was it for? What were those ideals that were more important than life and death? On this tour of Belfast, you'll discover the places that were scarred by the Northern Ireland troubles, the political milestone of the 20th century.
Belfast Political Tour
Imagine yourself in Belfast in the 20th century. The bombs and gunshots have become routine, and the military has taken control of the streets in response to violence. You're in a turbulent period in the history of the United Kingdom, choosing between siding with the Republicans or the Loyalists.
A republican ex-prisoner will welcome you at the starting point. We'll walk along Falls Road, observing the walls that pay homage to the conflict. You'll hear the guide's personal history while admiring almost 2000 representations of peace and liberty, including drawings of Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela.
In the second part of the tour, a loyalist ex-prisoner will discuss the repercussions of the conflict from their perspective. We'll walk through the gates dividing the factions and down Shankill Road, hearing accounts from local residents who wish to remain part of the United Kingdom.
You can leave your dedication on the Wall of Peace, as other distinguished figures like Bill Clinton and the Dalai Lama have done.
After three hours of intense emotions, we'll conclude the tour in Lower Shankill Road.
