Red Belgrade Communist Tour
We will meet at Nikola Paši? Square at the designated time, followed by introductions before starting our walking tour through Belgrade. Our first stop will be at Republic Square, the birthplace of Communist Yugoslavia, where Josip Broz Tito delivered his revolutionary speech in 1945. We will explore the unique mix of architectural styles in Belgrade, including socialist-grey edifices from the constructivism era, old-style monuments from the Yugoslavian Kingdom, and modern buildings.
Next, we will visit Terazije Square, sharing stories of glamorous holidays and the hotel Moskva. At the former square of Marx and Engels, we will admire the Trade Union Hall, the site of a notable miner's rise to fame. We will also visit Pioneer's Park.
To enhance our experience, we will take a trolley, once the primary mode of transport for Belgrade residents, to the elite district of Dedinje, known for its embassies and the Museum of Yugoslavia complex. A focus will be on Josip Broz Tito, the revered communist leader.
Our final stop will be the mausoleum, or the House of Flowers, where Tito's remains are interred, allowing us to reflect on his career and the final days of the Republic of Yugoslavia.
The tour will conclude after 4 hours of historical storytelling and sightseeing in Serbia's capital.
