History and adventure will come together in a tropical jungle on this day trip to Altun Ha and Caves Branch! Get ready to explore an ancient Mayan city and tube down a river!

Day Trip Details

After picking you up from the pickup point at the designated time, we'll leave Belize City to explore the archeological site of Altun Ha. Upon arrival, we'll visit one of the most significant Mayan cities, transporting you back to the Prehispanic period.

We'll explore the ruins of the pyramids with strategically stacked rocks, which means "stone pond" in Yucatecan Mayan, while discussing the small settlement and battles of the site, which dates back to the 3rd century.

After visiting Altun Ha, we will pause for 45 minutes at a local restaurant for a Belizean lunch. Then we will head to Caves Branch, a river flowing to a complex of limestone caves. Prepare for tubing adventure.

Upon arrival, we'll hike through the jungle for approximately 45 minutes until reaching the river. Then, we'll board the tubes known as donuts to tube down the river to the caves. After this 1.5-hour journey, you'll explore the caves and admire fascinating rock formations.

At the end of this 7-hour day trip, we'll drop you off at your hotel.
