Traiguera & Cervera del Maestre Guided Tour

At 8:45 am, we will meet at the Benicassim Tourist Office and board a bus to Traiguera. We will visit an estate with thousand-year-old olive groves and learn about the production of olive oil.

We will walk through the orchards and see the Sinfo Olive Tree, one of Europe's oldest, awarded for being the best monumental olive tree in 2018. Participants will learn about olive cultivation and attend an olive oil tasting with typical cold meats.

After the tasting, we will proceed to Cervera del Maestre and visit the Oil Mill Visitor Centre to explore olive grove traditions in the region. Following the Visitor Centre, we will have approximately 1 hour to tour Cervera del Maestre, known for its medieval castle of Arab origin, built for defense during Spain's Reconquest.

Our final destination will be back in Traiguera at the Royal Sanctuary Virgen Fuente de la Salud, an Asset of Cultural Interest, notable for being the only site with 'Royal' designation in Castellón. Discussion will cover its origins dating back to Charles V as we view the complex's elements, including the hostelry, priests' house, kitchens, and chapel.

The day trip will conclude between 2:15 pm and 2:45 pm at the meeting point.
