San Juan Chamula & Zinacantán Tour
We will pick you up from your hotel in Tuxtla Gutiérrez at the indicated time and set off for San Juan Chamula.
In San Juan Chamula, you'll encounter the Tzotzil people, a group of Mayan culture. The San Juan Bautista temple will be visited, showcasing an intriguing example of religious syncretism, where different celebrations mixing rituals and prayer take place.
Next, you'll visit the local cemetery with dry leaves atop wooden crosses, representing an ancestral tradition connected to communication with the underworld.
We will then travel to Zinacantán to visit the Church of San Sebastián Mártir and explore the dark legends and ancestral rites associated with the site. Afterward, you will meet a local family that creates products using a backstrap loom. If interested, you can also try a traditional local dish.
Finally, we will return to Tuxtla Gutiérrez, with drop-off at your hotel after approximately 7 hours.
