Escape from Tuxtla Gutierrez for a day to discover one of Chiapas' most spectacular natural landmarks: the Sumidero Canyon. You'll also explore the magical colonial town of Chiapa de Corzo.
Tour Details
We'll pick you up from your hotel and set off on our journey to the Sumidero Canyon. After a short drive, we'll board a boat for a two-hour tour of this natural wonder, sailing between the rock walls that rise approximately 1,000 meters (3280 feet) high. Along the way, we will admire the local vegetation and wildlife, including crocodiles, spider monkeys, and pelicans.
After the boat trip, we will travel to Chiapa de Corzo, the first colonial city founded by the Spaniards in 1528. We’ll explore its history and visit important sites, including a 16th-century Mudejar-style fountain and the ex-Convent of Santo Domingo.
You will have one hour of free time for lunch before we head to the Sumidero Canyon viewpoints to see the gorge from a different perspective. We will conclude our excursion by returning to Tuxtla Gutierrez, arriving approximately 8 hours later.
Zoomat
The Sumidero Canyon viewpoints are closed on Tuesdays. If you book this tour on a Tuesday, we will visit the Mirador del Cristo de Chiapa instead.
