Sumidero Canyon & Chiapa de Corzo Tour

Escape from Tuxtla Gutierrez for a day to discover one of Chiapas' natural landmarks: the Sumidero Canyon. You'll also explore the colonial town of Chiapa de Corzo.

Tour Details

We'll pick you up from your hotel and set off on our journey to the Sumidero Canyon. After a short drive, we'll board a boat for an in-depth tour of this natural wonder.

During the boat tour of Sumidero Canyon, lasting about two hours, we'll sail between the sheer rock walls of the canyon, which tower approximately 1,000 meters high. You can admire the lush vegetation and spot various wildlife, including crocodiles, spider monkeys, and pelicans.

Following the boat trip, we’ll travel to Chiapa de Corzo, established by the Spaniards in 1528. We’ll explore its history by visiting key buildings and monuments, such as the Mudejar-style fountain from the 16th century and the ex-Convent of Santo Domingo.

You’ll have an hour of free time for lunch before we proceed to the Sumidero Canyon viewpoints for a different perspective of the gorge.

We'll conclude our excursion by returning to Tuxtla Gutierrez, arriving 8 hours after departure.

The Sumidero Canyon viewpoints are closed on Tuesdays. If you book this tour on a Tuesday, we'll visit the Mirador del Cristo de Chiapa instead.
