At the indicated time, we will meet at the Berthier-sur-Mer Marina. There, we will board a boat and sail on the St-Lawrence River towards Grosse-île.

Upon arrival, disembark and meet your Parc Canada certified tour guide. Grosse Island was a former quarantine station where immigrants arriving from Ireland were disinfected before entering the mainland.

More than 7000 immigrants died on this island due to poor sanitary conditions. As you stroll through its streets, you can get an idea of life for those who lived here in the past. The visit includes the church, the lighthouse, the cemetery, and the lazaretto, one of the most significant places on the island, where you can learn about the disinfection process.

After exploring the dark history of Grosse Island, we will sail back to the meeting point to conclude the day trip.
