Enjoy a guided tour of the Dolmabahçe Palace during your stay in Istanbul. Explore one of the most significant palaces in Istanbul, delving into its history.
Dolmabahçe Palace
We will meet next to the clock tower of the Dolmabahçe Palace. The tour begins with a walk through the palace's gardens and continues with an audio guide inside the palace. Visitors will follow the ceremonial path to the Medhal Hall and learn about the history of these European-style palaces built during the decline of the Ottoman Empire.
The palace was constructed between 1843 and 1856 under Sultan Abdülmecit and served as the royal residence, replacing the Topkapi Palace. It features 285 rooms, 46 halls, 6 Turkish baths, and 68 lavatories, with notable decorations, including gold, French Baccarat crystals, Murano glass, and English crystals.
Next, we visit the Selamlik area, home to administrative offices and the Crystal Staircase and Throne Room.
The tour also includes the Harem section, where you'll learn about the private life of the Sultan and his family, including the residency of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. The tour of the Dolmabahçe Palace lasts approximately one hour.
