Vitoria Day Trip
After pickup at the meeting point, we will depart from Bilbao towards Vitoria-Gasteiz, arriving in about one hour. A guided walking tour of the historic center of Vitoria will follow, including the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca and the Basque Parliament, along with the Cathedral of Santa María, which inspired Ken Follett’s novel "The Pillars of the Earth".
Post-city tour, we will proceed to the Añana Salt Flats, exploring the "Salt Valley" and its historical significance as a major salt producer since the Middle Ages. Next, we will visit Orduña to understand its unique aspects.
A scenic drive through the Ayala Valley will lead us to Balmaseda for lunch, after which we will head to the industrial area of Portugalete. We will cross the Bilbao estuary using the Vizcaya Suspension Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world's first footbridges, inaugurated in the late 19th century.
We will conclude our trip on the district of Las Arenas in Guecho, returning to Bilbao around 5 pm.
