Free Walking Tour Details

On the day of the activity, we'll meet at the Advanced Gate in Birgu at the scheduled time. The tour covers the Pearl of the Three Cities and explores quaint squares and historic sites with an expert local guide who will discuss the city's history and Baroque architecture. The tour includes visits to the Advanced Gate and the Gate of Provence, where we will learn about the Great Siege of Malta in 1565, focusing on the defense by the Knights of St. John against Ottoman forces.

We will also visit the Bastions of St. John and St. James and the Armoury of the Knights of St. John, discussing the city's role during the Second World War and the impact of air raids. Architectural highlights include the Bishop's Palace, the Huesca Palace, and the Inquisitor's Palace, along with other notable sites like the Freedom Monument and the Victorious City Marina. The tour concludes after 1 hour and 45 minutes.
