Explore the historic centre of the Dominican Republic's capital on our Santo Domingo Day Trip from Boca Chica. You'll visit the lighthouse, the Alcazar de Colón, the Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, and the Three Eyes Cave.

Santo Domingo Day Trip

Between 9 am and 10 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Boca Chica and set off towards the historic capital. The trip begins at Three Eyes National Park to see a freshwater lake and cave, followed by a stop at the Columbus Lighthouse.

After a break in front of the National Palace, we'll have a buffet lunch featuring Dominican dishes such as rice, meat stews, and beans. Post-lunch, we'll embark on a walking tour of the colonial area of Santo Domingo.

Highlights include the Basilica Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, the Plaza de España, and the Alcázar de Colón. The tour continues along Via de Las Damas, leading to the National Pantheon and the Jesuit Church, which dates to the early 18th century.

We will explore the colonial centre's lively streets, discovering art exhibitions, cafes, and the Larimar and Amber shop-workshop. Here, we will learn about the significance of these semi-precious stones. The day concludes with a view of the Caribbean Sea before returning to Boca Chica, arriving at your hotel around 5 pm.

The Alcazar de Colon is closed for remodelling indefinitely. During this time, we will visit the Museum of the Royal Houses (Museo de las Casas Reales) instead.
