Explore the historic centre of the Dominican Republic's capital on our Santo Domingo Day Trip from Boca Chica. You'll visit the Lighthouse, the Alcazar de Colón, the Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, and the Three Eyes Cave.

Santo Domingo Day Trip

Between 9 am and 10 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Boca Chica and set off towards the historic capital of the Dominican Republic.

Our day trip will begin with a visit to the Three Eyes National Park, featuring its freshwater lake and cave. Then, we will pass by the Columbus Lighthouse, believed to house the remains of Christopher Columbus.

After a break in front of the National Palace for its neoclassical façade, we'll visit a local restaurant for a buffet lunch including typical Dominican dishes such as rice, meat stews, and beans.

Post-lunch, we'll take a walking tour of the colonial area of Santo Domingo. This includes the Basilica Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, the Plaza de España for views of the Ozama River, and the Alcázar de Colón. We'll also explore the Via de Las Damas, which houses the National Pantheon and the Jesuit Church.

We'll stroll through the colonial centre, viewing art exhibitions, cafes, craft stalls, and a Larimar and Amber shop-workshop. Here, we'll learn about these semi-precious stones. Finally, we will visit the boardwalk for views of the Caribbean Sea before heading back to Boca Chica.

We should arrive back at your hotel at around 5 pm.

The Alcazar de Colón will be closed for remodelling until further notice. During this time, we will visit the Museum of the Royal Houses (Museo de las Casas Reales) instead.
