Santo Domingo Day Trip

Between 9 am and 10 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Boca Chica and set off towards the historic capital of the Dominican Republic.

The day trip will begin with a visit to the Three Eyes National Park, featuring its freshwater lake and cave. We will then pass by the Columbus Lighthouse, where Christopher Columbus's remains are said to lie.

After a short break to admire the National Palace façade, we will head to a local restaurant for a buffet lunch of Dominican delicacies, including rice, meat stews, and beans.

Post-lunch, we will take a walking tour of the colonial area of Santo Domingo, entering the Basilica Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, the first cathedral built in the Americas. We will visit the Plaza de España and the Alcázar de Colón, exploring its interior.

The tour will continue to the Via de Las Damas, where the National Pantheon is located. We will visit this site and observe the Jesuit Church façade, dating back to the early 18th century.

Next, we will explore the lively streets filled with art exhibitions, cafes, and craft stalls, including a visit to the Larimar and Amber shop-workshop to learn about the importance of these stones in the Dominican Republic. We will conclude our day with a view of the Caribbean Sea from the boardwalk.

We will return to Boca Chica, arriving back at your hotel by around 5 pm.

Temporary closures

The Alcazar de Colon is closed for remodelling. During this time, we will visit the Museum of the Royal Houses (Museo de las Casas Reales) instead.
