Santo Domingo Day Trip
Between 9 am and 10 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Boca Chica and set off towards Santo Domingo.
The trip begins at Three Eyes National Park, where we'll see the freshwater lake and cave. Next, we'll pass by the Columbus Lighthouse, said to hold Christopher Columbus's remains.
After a short break at the National Palace, we'll enjoy a buffet lunch of Dominican delicacies, including rice, meat stews, and beans.
Post-lunch, we'll embark on a walking tour of the colonial area of Santo Domingo, entering the Basilica Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, the first cathedral in the Americas, and visiting Plaza de España for views of the Ozama River and the Alcázar de Colón. We will also explore the Via de Las Damas and visit the National Pantheon and the Jesuit Church.
We'll stroll through the colonial centre, observing local art, cafes, and craft stalls, including the Larimar and Amber shop-workshop, to learn about these semi-precious stones. The day concludes with views of the Caribbean Sea.
We will return to Boca Chica by around 5 pm.
Temporary closures
The Alcazar de Colon is closed for remodelling. During this time, we will instead visit the Museum of the Royal Houses.
