Cuevas de Tenjo Hike

Join us as we enter the depths of the Earth on a hiking route through the Cuevas de Tenjo. We'll access these caves, learn their secrets, and enjoy incredible views of the Bogotá savanna.

Description

At the indicated time, we will meet at your chosen pickup point and travel by minibus to the centre of Tenjo. Once there, we will begin a 45-minute hike to the caves found in the interior of Colombia.

During this upward hike, we can see the Bogotá savanna, observe cultivated fields, and potentially spot various species of birds.

Next, we will access the Cuevas de Tenjo, using ropes to descend 45 metres (147 Feet) below the Earth's surface. We will light lanterns, explain the caves' formation, and discover their mysterious uses in the past. You'll be amazed!

We will have 10 minutes to explore the caves before returning to the surface and heading to a viewpoint offering a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.

Subsequently, we will walk back to town to visit a hummingbird conservation centre, learn about these birds, and then take an hour's break to regain energy.

Finally, we will return to the initial meeting point by minibus after an 8-hour tour.

Tour from Tenjo

If you prefer, you can start the hiking route directly in Tenjo. This option, lasting about four hours, does not include transport as we will start the hike from the meeting point at Parroquia Santiago Apóstol.
