Guatavita & Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral Experience

After picking you up from your selected meeting point in Bogotá, we will head north. Our journey, lasting between 2 to 2.5 hours, will take us to the charming town of Guatavita.

Upon arrival, we will embark on a brief walk of 20 to 30 minutes through this picturesque town, which is noted for the stunning Guatavita Lagoon. Here, an engaging 2-hour guided walk will be led by a Spanish-speaking guide. This serene location is historically significant as it is believed to be where Indigenous Peoples conducted offerings to Chie, the goddess of water, and is also linked to the legendary tale of El Dorado!

Following our exploration of the lagoon, we will proceed for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours northwest towards Zipaquirá. Upon reaching our destination, you will have 1 hour of free time for lunch.

After regrouping, you’ll enjoy 2 hours of free time to discover the remarkable Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá with an audio guide available in English. This striking ecclesiastical structure is positioned 590 feet (180 meters) underground within the region's salt mines, which have been in operation since 1801 by local inhabitants.

After completing our visit, we will return to our vehicle and head back to the designated meeting spots in Bogotá, a drive that will take about 1.5 to 2 hours.

Option without tickets: This variant includes an English-speaking driver for transfers. Remember that you'll need to acquire your own tickets to join the activities.Option with tickets: By selecting this choice, you will receive admission to Guatavita Lagoon, accompanied by an English-speaking guide for the 2-hour lagoon walk, in addition to admission to the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá. Please note that your Cathedral visit will solely be with an audio guide in English.
