La Candelaria & Gold Museum Walking Tour

On this tour, you'll visit the Gold Museum and discover the ins and outs of La Candelaria, the historical neighborhood in Bogotá.

Description

We'll meet at the entrance to the Gold Museum to begin our guided tour of this museum and the neighborhood of La Candelaria. The tour will start with a visit to the church of San Francisco, the Archaeological Museum Casa del Marqués de San Jorge, and the Gold Museum of Bogotá, where we will see a collection of golden pieces from ancient pre-Colombian civilizations, including the Muiscas and Calimas.

Next, we will visit the Plaza de Bolivar, a significant gathering area in Bogotá, and stroll through this open space, admiring the architecture of the Primatial Cathedral of Bogotá, the Capitolio Nacional, and Lievano Palace, which houses the City Hall.

Then, we will head to La Candelaria, specifically the 10th Street of the Colony, to see the Colegio San Bartolomé and the houses of Manuelita Saenz, Bolívar, and Viceroy Sámano, among other historic buildings.

Our final stops will be at the Miguel Urrutia Art Museum, known for the famous monstrance La Lechuga (The Lettuce), followed by the Botero Museum, showcasing works donated by Fernando Botero.

After 4 hours of sightseeing, we will conclude the tour at this point.
