Páramo de Sumapaz Trip

Description

Beginning at the Cranky Croc Hostel, we will depart from Bogotá and head to the Páramo de Sumapaz. A stop will be made for a traditional breakfast. Upon arrival, experience the vastness of the moor at an altitude of over 3500 meters (11,500 feet). This area spans nearly half a million acres filled with unique flora and fauna, including Andean bears, deer, eagles, and condors. A hiking adventure will allow immersion in the landscapes.

Sumapaz is also rich in indigenous traditions predating the Spanish arrival. Participants will learn about the ancient rites of this South American region.

The tour includes visits to two viewpoints, providing panoramic views of the Frailejones Valley and the glacial lagoons of the páramo. After the hike, a stop will be made at a farmhouse for fruit snacks. The journey concludes with transportation back to Bogotá, roughly eight hours after pickup.
