The Páramo de Sumapaz is the largest páramo ecosystem in the world. This day trip from Bogotá offers a chance to explore this unique environment.
Description
The adventure begins at the Cranky Croc Hostel, where we'll depart Bogotá and head to the Páramo de Sumapaz. A traditional breakfast will be served before we continue.
Upon arrival, experience the vastness of the largest moor, located at an altitude exceeding 3500 meters (11,500 feet). The ecosystem covers nearly half a million acres and hosts various wildlife, including Andean bears, deer, eagles, and condors. A hiking adventure will allow you to explore the breathtaking landscapes.
The region is also rich in indigenous traditions dating back centuries, and insights into ancient practices will be shared throughout the tour.
Two viewpoints will be visited, providing panoramic views of the Frailejones Valley and the glacial lagoons of the páramo. After the hike, we will return along the trail, stopping at a farmhouse for fruit snacks.
The tour concludes with transportation back to Bogotá, approximately eight hours after the initial pickup.
