Bologna Outskirts Bike Tour
- 3 - 4 Stunden
If you'd like to explore the beautiful area surrounding Bologna, we've got the perfect activity for you! On our Bologna Outskirts Bike Tour, we'll visit small towns near Emilia Romagna's capital, such as Casalecchio di Reno, Sasso Marconi and Palazzo de Rossi.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet on Via Vitale da Bologna, 1A and hop onto our electric bikes. From here, we'll start pedalling around the villages that surround Bologna.
To begin, we'll cycle to the Casalecchio Dam, built in the 14th century on the Reno River. We will discuss how this engineering feat contributed to Bologna's economic boom and its links to the canals that once ran through the city.
Afterwards, we'll cycle to the town of Sasso Marconi, the birthplace of the inventor of the radio. We'll cover notable aspects of the life of Gugliemo Marconi, a Nobel Prize in Physics winner and a prominent figure in the Emilia Romagna region.
The final stop of the day will be in Palazzo de Rossi, a small medieval village where time appears to have stood still. We will mention that Pope Julius II once stayed here.
During the last stretch of our bike tour, we'll cycle through tree-lined avenues on our way back to the starting point. The tour will last a total of 3 hours.
