Why Visit the Bassins des Lumiéres?

Make your way to Les Bassins des Lumières to enter a unique, interactive art gallery located in Bordeaux's former submarine base. Established in the summer of 1999, it features immersive digital exhibitions dedicated to renowned artists, contemporary creations, and themes like space conquest and comic strips. It is the largest digital art centre in the world.

Within Les Bassins, you'll find 4 massive basins with a continuous cycle of exhibitions:

The Immersive Citerne: a 155 square meter space with 7-meter high ceilings.The Cube: a 220 square meter space for contemporary artists and digital works.Large Mooring Buoys: images from temporary exhibitions projected onto the water.The Base Museum: explores the history of the submarine base.

Typically, an hour is sufficient to take in the exhibitions.

This exhibition runs until January 29th, 2025, featuring masterpieces of Dutch painting, including Rembrandt's The Night Watch and Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring.

November 5th to December 19th, 2024: Monday and Tuesday from 10 am to 6 pm, Wednesday from 10 am to 2 pm, Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm, Friday from 10 am to 8 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm.December 20th, 2024 to January 5th, 2025: from 10 am to 2 pm.January 6th to 29th, 2025: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm, Wednesday from 10 am to 2 pm, Friday from 10 am to 8 pm, Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm.

Final admission will be an hour before closing time.
