Join us for a journey back in time as we visit all the must-see spots and historic monuments on a tour of Braga, known as the "Portuguese Rome!"
Braga Guided Tour
Meet us at Largo da Praça Velha to kick off our guided tour of Braga. In this historic plaza, one of the oldest in the city, we can admire the emblematic Porta Nova Arch, built in 1512, which provides the entryway to the Braga Wall.
Next, we'll visit the Medieval Tower, an example of northern Portuguese architecture.
Our walking tour continues down Diogo de Sousa Street to the Town Hall building, with construction beginning in 1754 and completing in 1865. This baroque-style building is notable for its design.
Braga is considered Portugal's religious center. During our tour, we will discuss its past as we pass through the Santa Barbara Gardens, the Third Order Church dedicated to Pope John Paul II, and the impressive Braga Cathedral, sharing insights about the city's history.
We will also discover remarkable 18th-century buildings, including Casa Rolão, Casa dos Crivos, and Capela e Casa dos Coimbras.
Finally, we will return to the meeting point 2.5 hours later, concluding our tour.
