Guided Tour of Brasilia
At the indicated time, we'll meet outside of the Honestino Guimarães National Museum to start our free tour of Brasilia.
We'll start by walking along the Esplanade of the Ministries, where we'll admire the avant-garde façade of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Brasilia, a protected World Heritage Site. Once inside the cathedral, we'll explain its curious pyramidal shape.
Next, we'll make our way to the National Congress of Brazil, designed in 1960 by architect Oscar Niemeyer, which we'll admire from the outside. As we walk, we'll explain the four scales that architect Lúcio Costa developed in the urban planning of the city of Brasilia: monumental, residential, gregarious, and bucolic.
The tour will also bring us to Three Powers Square and other iconic landmarks of Brazil's capital city, such as the National Museum. In between stops, we'll learn about other aspects of the city, noted for its avant-garde architecture in Latin America.
Finally, after 4 hours of sightseeing, we'll conclude our free tour of Brasilia at the Praça dos Três Poderes (Three Powers Plaza).
