Belgium is spelled with a b for "bandé dessinée", the French word for Ninth Art. In this comic tour of Brussels, we will see various urban vignettes scattered around different murals in the city.
Description
We will start this comic tour of Brussels by meeting at the indicated time on Rue du Marché au Charbon. Firstly, we will go to a shop specializing in Ninth Art, where we will introduce you to the fascinating world of Belgian comics.
We will then stroll through the Belgian capital to see several murals dedicated to the world of comics. We will discover the artists of these paintings, how they relate, and the main schools of Franco-Belgian comics, particularly the "clear line" style. Additionally, we will find out which was the first mural dedicated to comics in Brussels.
The next stop will be at the house that inspired Hergé to create Tintin's home, located near the market associated with the famous ‘unicorn’ from one of the comics. After viewing more murals, we will pass through ‘Les Marolles’, known as the authentic district of Brussels, where we will see murals of other Hergé characters, Peyó, the creator of The Smurfs, and more.
Finally, after a 2.5-hour tour, we will finish the activity at the Place du Jeu de Balle, the square where Tintin begins one of his great adventures, adapted into a film by Spielberg.
