Belgium is spelled with a b for "bandé dessinée", the French term for Ninth Art. This comic tour of Brussels will explore various urban vignettes through city murals.
Description
The comic tour of Brussels begins at the specified time on Rue du Marché au Charbon. First, we will visit a shop specializing in Ninth Art to introduce you to the world of Belgian comics.
Next, we will stroll through Brussels to view several murals dedicated to comics. You will learn about the artists, their connections, and the main schools of Franco-Belgian comics, particularly the "clear line" style. We will also identify the first mural dedicated to comics in Brussels.
We will then stop in front of the house that inspired Hergé for Tintin's home, near the market where he found the famous ‘unicorn’ from one of the comics. After viewing more murals, we will pass through ‘Les Marolles’, a popular district where murals of Hergé characters and Peyo, creator of The Smurfs, can be seen.
Concluding this 2.5-hour tour, we will finish at the Place du Jeu de Balle, the same square where Tintin begins one of his adventures, adapted into a film by Spielberg. This might mark the start of your adventure.
