Flanders Fields Tour
If you're in Brussels and want to visit a key site from the First World War, this tour to Flanders Fields is suitable for you. At the indicated time, we'll meet on Boulevard de Berlaimont and start our tour.
Between 1914 and 1918, the Flanders Fields were an important scene on the Western Front during World War One. Firstly, we'll head to the German Military Cemetery in Langemark, where more than 44,000 soldiers are buried. We will also see the Comrades Grave, a highlight of this cemetery.
Next, we'll travel to Ypres, where we will take a break to eat at a restaurant. Then, we will visit the Flanders Fields Museum, where you can see trenches and underground refuges, as well as learn about the conditions that soldiers experienced.
Our next stop will be the Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917 in Zonnebeke to learn about the Third Battle of Ypres, also known as the Battle of Passchendaele.
Subsequently, we will explore the Tyne Cot Memorial, which honors soldiers who died in the conflict and is the largest cemetery in the Commonwealth of Nations.
To complete our tour of Flanders Fields, we'll stop at the Monument to the Disappeared at the Menin Gate, memorializing over 54,000 soldiers without a known grave.
Finally, we'll head back to Brussels, concluding the tour after a total of 13 hours.
