We will meet at noon at Vámház krt. to start our food tour in the Budapest Great Market Hall, where you will explore the distinctive features of Hungarian cuisine.

We will first examine the building's neo-Gothic structure, designed by Samu Pecz. As we explore Hungary's largest covered market, we will sample specialties such as Trappist cheeses, pickles, and hot buns with various sausages.

Discussion will include paprika, a key ingredient in Hungarian cuisine. Following this, we will visit the sweet food stalls to taste varieties of rétes (strudel), a renowned sweet from the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Finally, we will enjoy lángos, a fried bread appetizer accompanied by sour cream, ham, tomato, and cheese. The tour concludes at 2 pm outside the market. See you next time!
