Budapest Great Market Hall Food Tour

At noon, we'll meet at Vámház krt. and begin our food tour in the Budapest Great Market Hall, where you will explore the distinctive qualities of Hungarian cuisine.

We will first examine the building's neo-Gothic structure designed by Samu Pecz. While walking through the aisles of Hungary's largest covered market, you will taste specialties such as Trappist cheeses, pickles, and hot buns with various sausages.

Discussion will include paprika, a key ingredient in Hungarian cuisine. We will also visit sweet food stalls to sample different varieties of rétes (strudel), a well-known treat from the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Finally, we will enjoy lángos, an appetiser made with fried bread, topped with sour cream, ham, tomato, and cheese. Bon appétit!

The tour will conclude at 2 pm outside the market.
