Budapest Great Market Hall Food Tour
At noon we'll meet at Vámház krt. and start our food tour in the Budapest Great Market Hall, where you'll discover the distinctive qualities of Hungarian cuisine.
First, we'll examine the building's neo-Gothic structure and design, created by Samu Pecz. As we walk through Hungary's largest covered market, we'll taste some specialties like Trappist cheeses, pickles, and hot buns with sausages.
We'll discuss paprika, a main ingredient of Hungarian cuisine. Afterward, we'll visit the sweet food stalls to sample various varieties of rétes (strudel), known as a sweet treat from the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Finally, we'll try lángos, an appetizer made with fried bread topped with ingredients like sour cream, ham, tomato, and cheese. Bon appetit!
Our food tour will finish at 2 pm outside the market. See you next time!
