On this free tour of Buenavista del Norte, we will explore the highlights of this town on the north coast of the island of Tenerife.
Buenavista del Norte Free Tour
The tour will start at the Plaza de Los Remedios. We will visit the church of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, established in 1513, and pass by El Granero, a building erected 250 years ago for storing farmers' harvests.
The itinerary will include Calle del Chorro, where we will discuss the cultural history of the area. We will then explore the Barranco de Triana ravine, notable for its old washing areas that also served as livestock watering points.
We will visit the site where Buenavista del Norte was founded, linked to Juan Méndez "El Viejo". Insights on the locality's connections to the world of the dead and the aborigines will be shared.
The tour will proceed to the Cruz de Toledo to discuss its importance. We will continue to the Plaza de San Sebastián, where we’ll find the historic Convent of San Francisco, which served as a municipal cemetery until 1946.
After an hour and a half, we will conclude the tour at the starting point.
