Buenos Aires Domes Tour
The Buenos Aires of the 19th and 20th centuries was very prolific in monumental buildings crowned by domes. To explore these, we'll meet at 9 am next to the pyramid of Plaza de Mayo.
Our first stop will be the Bencich Building to view its two huge five-story domes, designed in 1927 by architect Eduardo Le Monnier. From there, we will observe the First National Bank of Boston, known as Banco de Boston, located at the popular 'corner of the five domes.
Next, we'll head to the San Telmo neighborhood, passing the Casal de Catalunya, a neo-Gothic-Modernist building, and then the Otto Wulff Building, showcasing the Jugendstil variant of Art Nouveau.
After discussing the history of these structures, we'll visit Avenida de Mayo to see the façades and domes of Hotel Chile and Palacio Barolo, near the National Congress of Argentina with its 80-meter high dome.
We will continue to Avenida Rivadavia to admire the Art Nouveau buildings: the Confitería del Molino and Casa de los Lirios.
Our tour will conclude at 11 am next to the 'No Hay Sueños Imposibles' building, where we will share its intriguing name.
