The Buenos Aires graffiti tour introduces the artistic and political essence of the Argentinian capital through its murals.
Buenos Aires Graffiti Tour
The Palermo area, the largest neighborhood in Buenos Aires, is also its most artistic, featuring the Museum of Latin American Art, artisanal markets, and an extensive collection of murals and graffiti.
The tour begins at Plaza Serrano, where you'll explore the city's impressive graffiti, traveling through Palermo's Roussel, Santa Rosa, Gorriti, and Lavalleja, in search of the best street art.
Your local guide will discuss the connection between graffiti and the city, tracing its history from the early 20th century when painters were paid to paint political slogans, the introduction of aerosol cans in the 1960s, and the impact of the dictatorship in the 1970s and 1980s, leading to a revival of the art form.
Since 2014, the city government has encouraged local and international artists to create murals in Palermo, resulting in a vibrant display of color. Notable artists include Grolou and Dame, Adrián Escandar, and Alfredo Segatori, alongside the Worldwide Wall, which features sticker art as an international collaboration.
Your guide will provide insights into the graffiti culture as you admire works that challenge reality, infuse native culture, and enhance the city's vibrancy. The tour concludes around 5 pm at the corner of Gorriti and Lavalleja.
