Description

Day 1

On the first day, we'll pick you up from Lalibela Airport and take you to your hotel in Lalibela. After checking in, we'll begin our exploration of the UNESCO-protected rock-hewn churches.

We will first visit Bet Medhane Alem, an underground church carved from a monolith located in a 12-metre deep moat. You'll learn about the history of these 11 Ethiopian Orthodox churches, which were carved during the Zagwe Dynasty, between the 11th and 13th centuries.

Next, we will visit the Church of Biete Maryam, known for its frescoes. We will also explore Bet Golgotha and Bet Danaghel, marveling at these remarkable structures.

We will end the day by returning to the hotel in Lalibela.

Day 2

On the second day, we'll attend a religious ceremony at one of Lalibela's famous churches. After breakfast, we will head to Bet Yemrehanna Kristo, an important pilgrimage center.

After lunch, we'll visit Bet Gabriel-Rufael, Bet Abba Libanos, and Biete Amanuel, the latter believed to have been the private chapel of the Ethiopian royal family.

We'll conclude the day by returning to the hotel in Lalibela.

Day 3

After breakfast, you will have the day at leisure. At the agreed time, we will transport you to the airport for departure after three informative days exploring the rock churches of Lalibela!
