Immerse yourself in the stunning mountainous regions of Transylvania and Wallachia with this comprehensive day trip departing from Bucharest. Discover the enchanting Bran, often referred to as Dracula's Castle, alongside the magnificent Peles palace-castle.
Day Trip Overview
After beginning your journey at your selected pickup point or hotel in Bucharest, we will travel north, crossing through the legendary forests of Transylvania.
Our initial destination is Sinaia, a picturesque town nestled in the mountains of Wallachia, where we'll explore the grand Peles Castle. This architectural marvel served as a summer retreat for the Romanian monarchy. You’ll have the opportunity to wander through its spacious halls, exquisitely adorned in the style of the late 19th century, starting from when King Charles I commissioned its construction.
We will then proceed to the historic city of Bra?ov. Along the journey, we will discuss the city’s rich history and notable landmarks. Once we arrive, you’ll have 1.5 hours of leisure time to discover the charming historic center or savor a meal at one of the local eateries.
Post-lunch, our next stop will be Bran Castle. Upon arrival, we will provide insights for you to explore at your own pace. Learn about Vlad III, also known as “the Impaler,” the notorious 15th-century figure who inspired the renowned novel Dracula. As you navigate through the castle, gain an understanding of how this legendary persona became an enduring symbol of Transylvania.
After the visit to Bran Castle, we will begin our scenic drive back to Bucharest, allowing you to take in the picturesque views along the route.
Admission Information
It is important to note that tickets are not included in the price of the tour. We suggest that you acquire them ahead of time due to their limited availability, particularly on weekends and during public holidays.
For best results, aim to book your tickets at least 7 days in advance, but refrain from purchasing them more than 30 days prior, as earlier sales are not available. Last-minute purchases may result in unavailability for Peles Castle; in such cases, visiting Peli?or Castle may be an alternative.
For Peles Castle, ensure to select a time slot between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. Booking confirmation will provide details on how to secure these tickets. For Bran Castle, choose a time slot within the range of 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. or at 3:00 p.m. Confirmation will indicate the required time slot and the respective purchasing links.
Itinerary Adjustments
Please keep in mind that Peles Castle closes on Mondays and Tuesdays throughout the year. If your visit occurs on either of these days, instead of touring the interior, we will admire the fortress from the outside and, as a bonus, explore an exhibition on medieval torture instruments in Bran.
Itinerary modifications may occur due to traffic conditions and seasonal occurrences such as holidays. During peak times, anticipate longer queues and wait times.
Peles Castle may also be closed for cleaning and maintenance on select days from November to December 2026. Weather permitting, an alternative visit to Peli?or Castle will be arranged, while still allowing free time to explore the grounds of Peles Castle.
