Caceres: A City of 3 Cultures
The tour begins at Plaza de Santa María, exploring the historic center and the legacies of Muslims, Jews, and Christians in this UNESCO World Heritage site. We will visit two key Christian landmarks: the Concatedral de Santa María and San Francisco Javier Church.
We will encounter historic palaces such as Golfines de Abajo, Carvajal, and Toledo-Moctezuma, the latter having a connection to an Aztec emperor's daughter. We will explore the old aljama de Cáceres, the Jewish quarter, and discuss local culinary dishes like migas, changaina, and Iberian ham.
Next, we will visit Plaza de San Jorge and see Torres de la Hierba and Bujaco, then progress to the Plaza Mayor before passing through the Arco de la Estrella. The tour concludes after 2.5 hours under the Arco de la Estrella.
