Why Visit Cáceres Co-Cathedral?
The Co-cathedral of Saint Mary, originating from the 13th century, was destroyed and rebuilt in the late Gothic style between the 16th and 17th centuries. Renaissance elements were later added, visible in the tower designed by Pedro Ybarra and the choir by Pedro Marquina from the mid-16th century. You will learn the differences between a Co-cathedral and a Cathedral and the year it received its status through an audio guide in English. Explore the temple's beauty under its soaring ceilings and admire the intricate stone carvings.
Notably, you will discover the famous Black Christ in the chapel of Los Blázquez and its significance. To enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the old quarter of Cáceres, climb the spiral staircase to the Bell Tower.
