Immerse yourself in the history of 18th century Cadiz on this guided tour, discovering the most iconic monuments from its golden age: the Cathedral and the Tavira Tower.

Cadiz Cathedral & Tavira Tower Guided Tour Itinerary

Meet your guide in Plaza de San Juan de Dios to begin your guided tour of two emblematic monuments of the city's golden age. A brief stroll through the Old Town will lead you under the Arco de la Rosa to the Cadiz Cathedral, known locally as the "New Cathedral", built over 116 years due to the growing population. Its architectural styles range from Baroque to Rococo to Neoclassical.

Next, you'll visit the Torre Tavira, the tallest tower in Cadiz' Old Town. You will admire its Baroque architecture and then climb to its terrace for views over the city and the bay. This tower, along with 160 others across Cadiz, was used by merchants to monitor trading ships from the Americas.

Tavira Tower features a camera oscura, which you can use to see a live, moving projection of the exterior using a periscope. The optical illusion enhances the view of distant objects.

Your guided tour will last two hours.

Cathedral Museum

The tour includes admission to the Cathedral Museum. However, due to time constraints, we won't visit it during the tour. At the end, you'll be free to visit it at your own pace.

Important

To enjoy the view from the Tavira Tower, you must climb 173 steps.
