Located near the famous beaches of the Normandy Landings, the Mémorial de Caen showcases original objects from the Second World War, including vehicles, weapons, uniforms, propaganda posters, photographs, and maps. The exhibition on genocides and mass violence and the section about the Resistance and Liberation are notable. The D-Day exhibition highlights the significant events of June 6, 1944, featuring beaches such as Utah Beach, Omaha Beach, Sword Beach, Gold Beach, and Juno Beach.

Other highlights include General Wilhelm Richter's underground bunker and an exhibition on the Cold War. The 20th-century immersive room features a 19-minute film in a 360-degree room with 11 screens, covering European history from 1900 to 1991.
