Details of the Day Trip

The adventure begins at the designated meeting point at Largo Carlo Felice in Cagliari. Once all participants have gathered, we will set off towards Barumini, a quaint town nestled at the base of the Parco della Giara. Here, you will find the impressive Su Nuraxi, recognized as the largest Nuragic complex in Europe.

Upon arrival, we will explore the ruins of the village that once served the Nuragic communities, now recognized as a World Heritage Site. We will venture into the grand nuraghe, the central tower which showcases the civilization’s deep connection with its environment. You will soon uncover the reasons behind its historical significance!

Following our visit to Su Nuraxi, we will proceed to Casa Zapata, an elegant estate originally built for the Sardinian-Aragonese Barons of Zapata. It is interesting to note that this location now features a compact archaeological museum.

Before we return to Cagliari, we will take a moment to explore the Domus de Janas in Pimentel. These ancient rock-carved tombs, which date back to the Neolithic period, provide a captivating glimpse into the past, approximately 5000 years ago. Their unique structures have earned them the nickname Fairy Houses, and there are known to be at least 2500 of these tombs scattered across Sardinia.

Your day will conclude as we transport you back to the original meeting point in Cagliari, wrapping up a splendid journey lasting approximately 5 hours.
