What is Su Nuraxi of Barumini?
Su Nuraxi of Barumini is a significant archaeological site in Sardinia, known for being the best-preserved example of a nuraghe, a megalithic tower. Dating back to the Bronze Age, between the 16th and 13th centuries BC, the site consists of a central structure with a main tower and four smaller towers, all connected by a bastion. A village developed around the complex, complete with dwellings and daily life facilities. Discovered in the 1950s by archaeologist Giovanni Lilliu, Su Nuraxi was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.
