Cattana Wetlands, Barron Falls & Skyrail Tour from Cairns

Begin your exploration from Cairns with a guided journey through the stunning Cattana Wetlands and Barron Falls, culminating in a ride on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, where you'll travel above and within the enchanting World Heritage Listed rainforest.

Activity Overview

On the appointed day, we'll pick you up from your accommodation in Cairns at the predetermined hour to kick off this exciting experience.

Our adventure commences at the Cattana Wetlands, where a guided exploration of a feather palm forest awaits. As we traverse this scenic area, you'll have the chance to absorb the tranquil atmosphere and glimpse the reflective Jabiru Lake, learning about the diverse plant and animal life that resides here.

Next, we'll travel to the magnificent Barron Falls, also known by the Djabugay Aboriginal People as Din Din. This iconic site carries substantial cultural significance. A Djabugay cultural guide will share insights into the waterfall's spiritual and historical relevance to their community.

After our exploration, it’s time for a delightful lunch at Skybury, the oldest coffee plantation in Australia and the largest grower of papaya. While savoring a delicious meal prepared with local flavors, you can also indulge in coffee and papaya-infused dishes. After lunch, we'll take in the breathtaking vistas of the Tablelands while enjoying freshly brewed coffee sourced from the region.

Following our meal, we will head over to Emerald Creek Ice Creamery, where you can sample four distinct flavors of ice cream made right on the premises.

Our adventure continues as we board the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, making our way from Kuranda above and through the stunning World Heritage Listed rainforest. Prepare to be dazzled by remarkable views of Barron Falls from The Edge lookout while gaining insights into the rainforest's development at the CSIRO Rainforest Interpretive Centre.

Concluding our journey, we'll return to Skyrail’s Smithfield terminal for our ride back. After approximately 10 hours, we will be back in Cairns. We look forward to seeing you again!

Service Interruptions

Please be aware of upcoming construction activities that will affect cable car operations on the following dates:

July 20 to August 18, 2026: the cable car will be entirely closed, with bus alternatives availableAugust 19 to October 25, 2026: the cable car will operate only between Kuranda and Barron Falls, while the remainder of the journey will be via bus

To compensate for these inconveniences, you can select either an admission ticket to Birdworld or a visit to Kuranda Koala Gardens.
