Cattana Wetlands, Barron Falls & Skyrail Tour from Cairns

Embark on a guided adventure from Cairns. We'll explore the Cattana Wetlands and Barron Falls, as well as ride the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, travelling over and through the World Heritage Listed rainforest!

Activity Details

On the day of the activity, hotel pick-up in Cairns will occur at the indicated time. The first destination is the Cattana Wetlands, featuring a guided tour through a feather palm forest. Participants will experience the landscape and learn about the flora and fauna.

Next is the Barron Falls, or Din Din, significant to the Djabugay Aboriginal People. A Djabugay cultural guide will discuss the falls' spiritual and historical importance.

Lunch will be at Skybury, Australia’s oldest coffee plantation, where guests will enjoy a meal with coffee and papaya elements while taking in views across the Tablelands.

Then, we will visit Emerald Creek Ice Creamery for a tasting of 4 on-site ice cream flavours.

Afterward, we'll board the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway from Kuranda, enjoying views of Barron Falls from The Edge lookout and learning at the CSIRO Rainforest Interpretive Centre.

The return journey will begin at Skyrail’s Smithfield terminal, concluding the adventure after 10 hours back in Cairns.

Partial Closures

Due to construction, the cable car will be closed on the following dates:

July 20 to August 18, 2026: complete closure; the route will be by busAugust 19 to October 25, 2026: operates between Kuranda and Barron Falls; the remaining route will be by bus

As compensation, guests can choose an admission ticket to Birdworld or Kuranda Koala Gardens.
