Visit the remnants of the ancient coral reef that stretched across the Australian outback millions of years ago on our Outback & Chillagoe Day Trip. You'll also explore some of the country's most striking spots during this excursion.
Outback & Chillagoe Day Trip
Between 6:45 and 7 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Cairns and start exploring the vast Australian Outback in an air-conditioned minibus.
Our first stop will be at a local coffee shop for a cup of coffee or tea. We'll then visit the Chillagoe-Mungana Caves to see the limestone labyrinths and the fossilized remains of an ancient coral reef from 400 million years ago.
Next, we'll head to the Chillagoe smelter ruins to learn about local copper smelting history and view the old chimneys in the landscape.
We will then stop at one of Australia's oldest pubs for lunch, where you can choose from a variety of dishes such as burgers and fish.
After lunch, we will proceed to the Aboriginal Art Rock to admire impressive rock paintings, stopping at Equilibrium Rock for photo opportunities.
The final stop is Granite Gorge Nature Park, where you'll see friendly wallabies and enjoy the scenic surroundings.
We will return to your hotel in Cairns between 6:45 pm and 7 pm after a memorable day in the Australian Outback.
