Guided Tour of Cajamarca
We'll pick you up at your hotel in downtown Cajamarca at the agreed time to start the tour. Cajamarca hosts the Peruvian Carnival , one of the most celebrated holidays in Peru.
The tour begins at the Plaza de Armas, the site of the capture of Inca chief Atahualpa by the Spaniards. We will see the Santa Catalina cathedral and the San Francisco church, known for their distinctive volcanic rock facades.
Next, we will visit the monumental complex of Belen, which includes the Men's Hospital, the Women's Hospital, and a church. Afterward, we will see the Cuarto del Rescate (Rescue Room), where Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro kept Atahualpa before his execution, learning about his last days in prison.
We will then continue to the viewpoint atop Santa Apolonia hill for a view of the city and the Rumi Tiana valley. Here, we will find the Silla del Inca, believed to be the seat of Atahualpa.
After three and a half hours of history and sightseeing, we will return to your hotel in Cajamarca.
