Guided Tour of Cajamarca
The tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel in downtown Cajamarca at the agreed time. Our first stop will be the Plaza de Armas, the site where Inca chief Atahualpa was captured by the Spaniards. Here, we will view the Santa Catalina cathedral and the San Francisco church, notable for their facades carved in volcanic rock.
We will then proceed to the complex of Belen, consisting of the Men's Hospital, Women's Hospital, and a church. Following this, we will visit the Cuarto del Rescate (Rescue Room), known for its Incan remains where Francisco Pizarro held Atahualpa before his execution. We will learn about Atahualpa's final days in captivity.
Next, we will ascend Santa Apolonia hill for a panoramic view of the city and the Rumi Tiana valley. This area also features the Silla del Inca, reputed to be the seat of Atahualpa.
The tour lasts approximately three and a half hours, after which we will return to your hotel in Cajamarca.
