Lake Sausacocha & Wiracochapampa Excursion

The tour begins with pickup at 5 am at your hotel in Cajamarca. After a three-hour drive crossing the plains of northern Peru, we will arrive at Cajabamba for a breakfast break on your own. We will then proceed to Lake Sausacocha.

Upon arrival at this wetland area, we will visit the lagoon, which is significant as its name "sawsaqucha" translates to "lagoon that never dries up." During our stay, there will be a one and a half hour break for lunch, during which you can explore the lagoon or go on a boat ride. Following lunch, we will visit the archaeological complex of Wiracochapampa to learn about its legends.

These ruins, attributed to the Wari civilization, feature trapezoidal constructions and walls up to 20 meters high, alongside carefully planned squares and patios. After the tour, we will return to Cajamarca, arriving at your hotel by 9:30 pm.
