Lake Sausacocha & Wiracochapampa Excursion

Pickup is at 5 am at your hotel in Cajamarca. The journey takes three hours across the plains of northern Peru, with a breakfast break in Cajabamba. Next, we will head to Lake Sausacocha.

Upon arrival, we will start with a visit to this important wetland area. The term Sausacocha comes from the Inca word "sawsaqucha," meaning "lagoon that never dries up."

Then, we have an hour and a half break for lunch, during which you can explore the lagoon and enjoy a boat ride. Afterward, we will proceed to the archaeological complex of Wiracochapampa to learn about its legends.

The ruins, belonging to the Wari civilization, feature trapezoidal constructions with walls up to 20 meters high. We will also see their well-planned squares and patios.

Following the tour, we will return to Cajamarca, arriving at your hotel by 9:30 pm.
