Ventanillas of Otuzco Day Trip
Pick-up will be at your hotel in Cajamarca at 3:30 pm. The excursion starts with a drive to the village of Otuzco, crossing the suspension bridge over the Chonta River. Located just 4 miles (7 kilometers) from the village, we will visit the Ventanillas de Otuzco, a necropolis with over 300 tombs carved into volcanic rock.
This cemetery belongs to the Caxamarca culture, which existed prior to the Incas and became part of the Inca Empire until the arrival of Spanish conquistadors. During the visit, you will see the window-shaped niches that characterize this site and learn about its historical context.
Next, we will stop at Hacienda Tres Molinos, a traditional dairy farm producing cheese, butter, and blancmange. The farm features an outdoor hydrangea garden, showcasing various flowers and fruits.
After the tour, you will have free time to sample local delicacies and enjoy a horseback ride around the hacienda. We will return to your hotel, arriving at around 7 am.
