Ventanillas of Otuzco Day Trip
Pickup at your hotel in Cajamarca is at 3:30 pm for this excursion. Our journey begins with a drive to the village of Otuzco, crossing the suspension bridge over the Chonta River. We will visit the Ventanillas de Otuzco, a necropolis with over 300 tombs carved into volcanic rock, located just 4 miles (7 kilometers) away.
This cemetery is from the Caxamarca culture, which predated the Incas and later became part of the Inca Empire. During the trip, you will observe the window-shaped niches that characterize the site and learn about its historical significance.
Next, we will stop at Hacienda Tres Molinos, a traditional farm producing dairy products such as cheese and butter, as well as sweet blancmange. The farm features a hydrangea garden showcasing various flowers and fruits.
You will have free time to sample local delicacies and enjoy horseback riding around the hacienda. The tour concludes with a return to your hotel, arriving around 7 am.
