Get ready for an extraordinary private trekking adventure at the Poruña Volcano, a mesmerizing crater nestled in the Chilean Andes, the smallest in South America.
Tour Highlights
We'll kick off the adventure by picking you up at 8:30 am from your hotel in Calama. A scenic drive of approximately an hour and a quarter will take us to the starting point of our hike at the Poruña Volcano.
Upon reaching the proximity of the volcano, we'll begin our ascent to its summit. After an hour's trek, we'll reach the peak at an elevation of 3,625 meters (8,610 feet) above sea level, marking the Poruña as the smallest volcano in South America. Standing at around 150 meters (500 feet), it provides a unique perspective.
At the summit, enjoy panoramic views of the San Pedro and San Pablo volcanoes and an approximately 8-kilometer (5-mile) stretch of solidified lava. Poruña is believed to be a side crater of the San Pedro volcano.
Following the trek, we'll begin the descent, taking around one hour. Upon returning to the base, we will transport you back to Calama, concluding the adventure by 4 pm.
