Tour Highlights
At 8:30 am, pick-up will be from your hotel in Calama, starting your journey to Chiu Chiu and the Poruña Volcano. The first stop is the Conchi Viaduct, also known as the Loa River Viaduct, which has historical significance as a former route for the railroad from Antofagasta to Bolivia.
Continuing, you will arrive near Poruña Volcano for a 3-kilometer (1.8-mile) hike through the smallest crater in the world. Enjoy views of the Andes Mountains.
As you traverse the Lasana Valley in the Loa River canyon, you will see remnants of early human settlements that focused on agriculture and livestock.
By 1:30 pm, reach San Francisco de Chiu Chiu, where you will have one hour for lunch independently. After lunch, explore the historic streets of this town, formerly known as Atacama Chica, and visit significant monuments like the San Francisco Church, the oldest church in Chile.
At 3 pm, the return journey to Calama will commence, concluding with your drop-off at your hotel seven hours later.
