Embark on a private day trip to Chiu Chiu and the Poruña Volcano, discovering a village in Alto del Loa and the landscapes of the Andes Mountains.
Tour Highlights
At 8:30 am, our team will pick you up from your hotel in Calama to start the journey to Chiu Chiu and the Poruña Volcano. The first stop will be the Conchi Viaduct, known as the Loa River Viaduct, which has historical significance as a railroad route from Antofagasta to Bolivia.
Continuing by vehicle, we will reach the Poruña Volcano, where a 3-kilometer (1.8-mile) hike will take place to view the world-record-holding smallest crater, offering views of the Andes Mountains.
As we traverse the Lasana Valley in the Loa River canyon, we will see remnants of early human settlements that focused on agriculture and livestock for centuries.
By 1:30 pm, we will arrive in San Francisco de Chiu Chiu, allowing for an hour of free time for lunch. After lunch, we will explore the historic streets of the town, formerly known as Atacama Chica, visiting significant monuments, including the oldest church in Chile, the San Francisco Church.
At 3 pm, we will commence our return journey to Calama, concluding with your drop-off at your hotel seven hours later.
