Rafting at Cañón de Almadenes
At the time you choose, we'll meet at the Venta Esperanza restaurant, located on the road between Calasparra and Jumilla. From here, we'll move to the starting point of the activity.
Ready for an adventure? If this is your first time rafting, not to worry! We'll give you an introductory talk to explain how to navigate with the paddles. Once we have learned the technique, we'll get equipped with a life vest and helmet and get into the rafts.
We'll descend through a level 1 rafting section, paddling down the most spectacular stretch of the Segura river, specifically the segment that runs through the canyon of Almadenes. This area has been declared a Protected Natural Area. During the descent, we'll discuss the biodiversity of this location and the riparian forest.
We will make several stops to explore the region's hidden treasures, such as Abrigos del Pozo, home to the cave of the Monigotes, a World Heritage Site for its prehistoric paintings, where we'll attend a cave art workshop.
We will also stop at the Cueva de las Nutrias, known for its otters. Afterward, we will return to the raft and continue paddling through the Paraje de la Maestra and the Alfonso XII Reservoir until we reach La Mulata Dam, concluding this 3-hour adventure.
