São José dos Ausentes Day Trip
- 10 Stunden
On this day trip to São José dos Ausentes, we'll visit the tallest point in Rio Grande do Sul and admire its landscapes and the southern Brazilian coast.
Description
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Cambará do Sul and travel in a 4x4 vehicle to São José dos Ausentes. The name of this small town originates from its history, as it was once the largest ranch in the region at over 1000 square kilometres (386 square miles) before being abandoned by its owners.
Upon arrival, we'll head to Pico do Monte Negro to begin a short 4-kilometre (2.5 miles) hiking route to reach the highest point in the state, standing at 1043 metres (3421 feet) above sea level. Here, we'll enjoy views of the Monte Negro Canyon and, on clear days, the coast of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.
After the hike, we'll return by 4x4 to a farm for a buffet-style lunch. Post-lunch, we'll visit the Rodriges waterfall and explore the area, including Cerro Maracujá and the fields of Cima da Serra.
Finally, we'll return to Cambará do Sul and conclude the day trip at your hotel after approximately 10 hours of activity.
