In this activity from Campeche, we'll enjoy a boat ride to see dolphins near Aguada Island, located on the west coast of the Yucatan.
Aguada Island Dolphin Watching
At 9 am, we'll pick you up at the Ocean View Hotel in Campeche and travel by road to the fishermen's pier next to the boardwalk of Aguada Island.
Upon arrival at the pier, we'll embark on a boat ride along the coast of Aguada Island, where we may see bottlenose dolphins swimming. These dolphins can reach speeds up to 6 knots (6.9 mph or 11 kph).
We will then navigate through the Términos Lagoon and stop at Isla de los Pájaros (Bird Island) for 2 hours, allowing time for a refreshing dip and time to relax. Please bring your picnic.
While at Bird Island, you can observe a variety of birds that inhabit this area. The ecosystem supports numerous species, which we will help identify by their plumage.
Finally, we'll return by boat to the pier of Aguada Island and travel back to San Francisco de Campeche, with an arrival time at the starting point scheduled for 5 pm.
Cetacean Sightings
The coast of Aguada Island and Ciudad del Carmen is an excellent location to spot dolphins and other cetaceans. However, sightings can be unpredictable and depend on factors such as weather and breeding seasons of different species.
