In this activity from Campeche, we'll enjoy an unforgettable boat ride to see dolphins near Aguada Island, a paradise on the west coast of the Yucatan.
Aguada Island Dolphin Watching
At 9 am, we'll pick you up at the Ocean View Hotel in Campeche. From there, we'll travel by road to the fishermen's pier located next to the boardwalk of the Magic Town of Aguada Island.
Upon arrival at the pier, we'll embark on a boat ride along the coast of Aguada Island, where we'll observe bottlenose dolphins swimming. These dolphins can reach speeds of 6 knots (6.9 mph or 11 kph).
Next, we'll navigate through the interior of the Términos Lagoon. We will stop at Isla de los Pájaros (Bird Island) for 2 hours, where you can swim and enjoy your picnic. This area is known for its diverse bird species, which we will help you identify.
Finally, we will return by boat to the Aguada Island pier and then drive back to San Francisco de Campeche. The expected return time is 5 pm.
Cetacean Sightings
The coast of Aguada Island and Ciudad del Carmen is ideal for observing dolphins and other cetaceans. However, sightings may vary based on factors such as weather and the breeding seasons of different species.
