In this activity from Campeche, we'll enjoy a boat ride to see dolphins near Aguada Island, located on the west coast of the Yucatan.
Aguada Island Dolphin Watching
At 9 am, pickup is at the Ocean View Hotel in Campeche. We'll then travel by road to the fishermen's pier next to the boardwalk of Aguada Island.
Upon arrival at the pier, we'll embark on a boat ride along the coast of Aguada Island, where we may observe bottlenose dolphins swimming. These dolphins can reach speeds of up to 6 knots (6.9 mph or 11 kph).
Next, we'll navigate through Términos Lagoon. We will stop at Isla de los Pájaros (Bird Island) for 2 hours of free time for swimming and relaxation. Participants should bring a picnic.
On Bird Island, there is an opportunity to admire the diverse bird species in the area, benefiting from the rich ecosystem that serves as their habitat.
Finally, we return by boat to the pier of Aguada Island, followed by a road trip back to San Francisco de Campeche, with an expected arrival time of 5 pm.
Cetacean Sightings
The coast of Aguada Island and Ciudad del Carmen is known for dolphin and cetacean sightings; however, the visibility of animals can be unpredictable due to factors such as weather and breeding seasons.
