Calakmul + Balamkú Tour

On this excursion from Campeche, we will explore the Mayan culture by visiting Calakmul and Balamkú, important archaeological sites on the Yucatán Peninsula.

Calakmul + Balamkú Tour

Pickup will be at 5 am at your hotel in San Francisco de Campeche. We will travel into the Yucatan Peninsula to visit two significant archaeological sites. The first stop will be Calakmul, located four and a half hours away.

Before reaching Calakmul, there will be a stop for a breakfast featuring two sandwiches, juice, yoghurt, and fruit. After this break, we will proceed to Calakmul, an important Mayan political center during the pre-Columbian period.

Upon arrival, there will be a guided tour of the ruins of Calakmul, a World Heritage Site, where we will see tiered temples known as Structure I and II, as well as the remains of an ancient ball game court.

After visiting Calakmul, we will travel to the Mayan site of Balamkú, known for its decorated temples featuring striking stucco friezes and lithographic engravings.

After the site visit, lunch will be at the Puerta Calakmul restaurant, with a menu offering a choice of a traditional Mexican dish, either chicken or fajitas.

Following lunch, we will return to your hotel in Campeche, arriving at approximately 8 pm.
