On this tour through the region of Los Chenes, we'll discover Mayan heritage at key archaeological sites.

Los Chenes Region Tour

We will pick you up at 7 am at your hotel in San Francisco de Campeche to travel to Los Chenes, named for the pre-Columbian wells (ch'e'en) found in the area.

The first stop is at Hochob, where we will explore the remains of ancient Mayan palaces and observe stone stelae depicting various deities and other cultural symbols.

Next, we will visit the archaeological site of Dzibilnocac. Here, the remains of the ancient Mayan city and its stone temples highlight the architecture of the period, with some pyramidal bases still intact.

From Dzibilnocac, we will proceed to the town of Hopelchén for a lunch break at La Capilla. You will have options for chicken, beef, or various barbecued items.

After lunch, we will explore the village of Ich-Ek to learn about the surviving Mayan traditions. We will conclude our tour and return to your hotel in Campeche by 3 pm.
