Embark on an exploration of the Los Chenes region, where an impressive Mayan legacy awaits at its key archaeological locations.

Tour of the Los Chenes Region

Your adventure begins with a 7 am pickup from your hotel in San Francisco de Campeche, setting the stage for a journey to Los Chenes. This area in the Yucatán Peninsula derives its name from numerous pre-Columbian wells, known as ch'e'en in the Mayan language, scattered throughout the region.

Our first destination will be the archaeological site of Hochob. Here, we will marvel at the vestiges of ancient Mayan palaces, gaining insights into the cultural elements that defined their civilization. Notably, some surviving stone stelae portray various deities along with other symbols emblematic of this historic society.

Following our exploration of Hochob, the journey continues to Dzibilnocac, another archaeological treasure of the Yucatán. The remnants of this once-thriving Mayan city are still quite visible, showcasing grand stone temples. Remarkably, many pyramidal bases remain intact, providing a deeper understanding of the architectural style prevalent during that era.

After visiting Dzibilnocac, we will travel onward to the town of Hopelchén, where a well-deserved rest awaits at La Capilla restaurant. Indulge in a delicious traditional meal—options include chicken, beef, or an array of barbecued dishes.

With energy restored, our next stop is the village of Ich-Ek, where you’ll immerse yourself in the vibrant Mayan traditions that continue to thrive in this Yucatacan setting. Finally, we’ll return to your hotel in Campeche, aiming to arrive by 3 pm.
