Yucatán Camino Real Handicraft Tour
From your hotel in San Francisco de Campeche, we will pick you up at 8 am and head north along part of the Camino Real, an ancient trail established by the Spaniards in the 16th century, connecting several cities of the Yucatan peninsula.
The main route of the Camino Real connected Campeche with Merida. We will follow this route to Becal, where we will explore its main handicraft traditions, especially the weaving of jipijapa hats in caves, a technique passed down through generations.
Next, we will visit Calkiní and stop at restaurant La Palapa for a typical lunch with a choice of chicken or pork.
Our tour continues to Hecelchakán, a small town where we will explore Yucatecan handicrafts. Here, hats, shawls, and other textiles are crafted by hand using traditional methods dating back to the Mayan era.
Finally, we will stop in Pomuch to visit a traditional bakery and observe a master baker making bread in a wood-fired oven, with an opportunity to taste the bread.
We will then return to your hotel in Campeche, arriving at 3 pm.
