Yucatán Camino Real Handicraft Tour
From your hotel in San Francisco de Campeche, we will pick you up at 8 am to head north along part of the Camino Real, an ancient trail established by the Spaniards in the 16th century that connected several cities of the Yucatan peninsula.
The main route of the Camino Real connected Campeche with Merida. We will follow this route to Becal to explore its main handicraft traditions, including the weaving of jipijapa hats in caves, a technique passed down through generations.
Next, we will continue along the Camino Real of the Yucatan in Calkiní, stopping at the restaurant La Palapa for a typical lunch featuring a choice of chicken or pork.
Our tour proceeds to Hecelchakán, where we will further explore the history and Yucatecan handicrafts. Local artisans create hats, shawls, and other textiles using methods dating back to the Mayan era.
The final stop is in Pomuch, visiting a traditional bakery to observe a master baker producing bread in a wood-fired oven, with tasting opportunities available.
We will return to your hotel in Campeche by 3 pm.
