Yucatán Camino Real Handicraft Tour

This tour explores the handicraft traditions of the Yucatán along part of the Camino Real, an ancient route established by the Spaniards in the 16th century, connecting several cities of the Yucatán peninsula.

The tour begins with a pick-up at your hotel in San Francisco de Campeche at 8 am. We will head north along the Camino Real, following the main route that connects Campeche with Merida. Our first stop will be in Becal, where we will learn about the weaving of jipijapa hats in caves, a technique passed down through generations.

Next, we will continue to Calkiní, where we will pause at the restaurant La Palapa for lunch. The menu offers a typical dish with a choice of chicken or pork.

Following lunch, we will visit Hecelchakán, a small town known for its typical Yucatecan handicrafts, including handmade hats, shawls, and textiles, which utilize techniques dating back to the Mayan era.

Our final stop will be in Pomuch, where we will visit a traditional bakery to observe the process of making bread in a wood-fired oven and enjoy samples of the freshly baked bread.

We will return to your hotel in Campeche by 3 pm.
